A bigger flock, fed and watered from five stations
With a bigger flock the queue forms at the feeder and the water runs out first. This pack puts feed and water in several places at once: feed stays in the feeders, water stays clean in sealed drinkers, and the quieter birds have somewhere else to eat and drink. More than 80,000 chook keepers across Australia and New Zealand have made the switch.
What is in the pack?
Three 4.7L Large Chicken Feeders, two 4L Chicken Drinkers with two Lubing cups each and an upgraded float in every cup, and a mounting kit for each of the five units: two steel brackets and four screws apiece, for timber or metal.
Mounting to wire mesh? Add a stainless wire mesh mounting kit for each unit.
The pack ships as three cartons, so your order arrives as three boxes. Delivery is still one flat $22.95 for the order.
What size flock is this pack for?
This pack suits flocks of up to 20 chickens. Each 4.7L feeder suits up to 8 birds and holds roughly 3.7kg of feed, about 11.1kg across the three. Each twin cup drinker suits up to 12 birds; the two hold 8 litres between them. A hen drinks around 500ml a day and up to a litre in real heat, so a flock near 20 will need the drinkers topped up every day, and twice a day in hot weather. Spread the units around the coop and run and every bird eats and drinks without being pushed off. These are figures from our own coops. Breed, weather and free-ranging all move them.
Smaller flock? The feeder and two drinker kit suits up to 10 hens. Breeding pens or a bigger setup? The Breeder Pack is six feeders and six drinkers.
How do the feeders keep feed off the ground?
Feed gravity-feeds into a hooded base. The hood gives your hens room to eat comfortably, but the shape stops the flicking and raking that scatters feed across the floor, and a built-in rain hood channels water away from the opening so the feed stays dry outdoors. No moving parts, no treadle, no training. Your chickens work it out in minutes. Less feed on the ground also means less on offer for sparrows and rodents.
How do the drinkers keep water clean?
Each drinker is a sealed, opaque 4L reservoir, and water only reaches the birds through the Lubing cups, which refill themselves as the level drops. No open bowl collecting shavings, dirt or droppings, nothing standing on the ground to be tipped over, and no sunlight on the water to grow algae. Rinse the cups when you refill and the flock is drinking what came out of your tap.
What feed should I use with this pack?
Quality complete feed, crumble or pellets. These give your hens balanced nutrition in every bite and reduce selective eating. Grain mixes let hens pick out their favourites and leave the rest, which is both waste and a nutrition gap.
If the feed level looks low in the tray, that is by design: it keeps feed away from the edges so it cannot be flicked out. Try the finger test: push your finger into the opening. If you can move the feed, your chickens can reach it.
How is it built, and how is it backed?
Every component is injection moulded in Brisbane and assembled by hand in Townsville, a genuine Australian made product. UV-treated ASA plastic handles sun and rain year after year, and with no moving parts there is nothing to jam or seize. Dine-A-Chook started in 2009 as a weekend project in the garage, and we are still a family business that answers its own emails, New Zealand included. Backed by a 3-year warranty on the feeder and the drinker components we manufacture, and 12 months on the Lubing cups. Colour loss and fading, and rodent damage, are not covered.
