With a bigger flock, water is the thing that runs out first and the cup is where the queue forms. This kit pairs the 4.7L Large Feeder with two sealed 4L drinkers the birds cannot stand in or tip over: two drinking stations, four cups, eight litres. What is in the kit?
A 4.7L Large Chicken Feeder, two 4L Chicken Drinkers with two Lubing cups each and an upgraded float in every cup, and a mounting kit for each of the three units: two steel brackets and four screws apiece, for timber or metal. Nothing else to buy if you are mounting to timber.

What size flock is this kit for?
This kit suits flocks of up to 10 hens, or any run where a single water point causes a queue. The 4.7L feeder holds roughly 3.7kg, about 4–5 days of feed at this flock size. The two drinkers hold 8 litres between them, and a hen drinks around 500ml a day and up to a litre in real heat, so check the drinkers daily in hot weather. These are figures from our own coops. Breed, weather and free-ranging all move them.
Running 6–8 birds? The 4.7L feeder on its own is here, and the 3.5L feeder and two drinker kit is the compact version of this kit. Want more water between refills? The 4.7L feeder and 20L drum kit holds 20 litres, about a week for six hens.
How does the feeder keep feed off the ground?
Feed gravity-feeds into a hooded base. The hood gives your hens room to eat comfortably, but the shape stops the flicking and raking that scatters feed across the floor, and a built-in rain hood channels water away from the opening so the feed stays dry outdoors. No moving parts, no treadle, no training. Your chickens work it out in minutes. Less feed on the ground also means less on offer for sparrows and rodents.
How do the drinkers keep water clean?
Each drinker is a sealed, opaque 4L reservoir, and water only reaches the birds through the two Lubing cups, which refill themselves as the level drops. No open bowl collecting shavings, dirt or droppings, nothing standing on the ground to be tipped over, and no sunlight on the water to grow algae. Rinse the cups when you refill and the flock is drinking what came out of your tap.
What feed should I use with this kit?
Works well with quality complete feed — crumble or pellets. These give your hens balanced nutrition in every bite and reduce selective eating. Grain mixes let hens pick their favourites and miss essential nutrients.
If the feed level looks low in the tray, that’s by design — it keeps feed away from edges so your hens can’t flick it out. Try the finger test: push your finger into the opening. If you can move the feed, your chickens can reach it.
How is it built, and how is it backed?
Every component is injection moulded in Brisbane and assembled by hand in Townsville, a genuine Australian made product. UV-treated ASA plastic handles sun and rain year after year, and with no moving parts there is nothing to jam or seize. Dine-A-Chook started in 2009 as a weekend project in the garage, and we are still a family business that answers its own emails, New Zealand included. Backed by a 3-year warranty on the feeder and the drinker components we manufacture, and 12 months on the Lubing cups. Colour loss and fading, and rodent damage, are not covered.
