A weep at the thread is usually the O-ring

Every Lubing cup seals against the drinker with a small O-ring on its thread. It makes the joint watertight and stops the cup being screwed in so hard that it is damaged. Over time an O-ring flattens, cracks or gets nicked, and a slow weep where the cup screws in is the usual sign. This pack gives you ten, so you can replace every cup’s O-ring on a drinker and keep spares on the shelf.

How do I fit one?

Unscrew the cup, take off the old O-ring and seat the new one on the thread at the top of the cup. Screw the cup back in firmly by hand: snug, not forced. If the cup itself is cracked or split at the collar, replace the cup at the same time.

Still dripping with a new O-ring?

Then the thread was not the problem. A cup that drips or overflows from the cup itself is nearly always head pressure over 35 cm, an airlock in the reservoir or grit on the valve seat. Give the cup a strip-down clean and check the setup. Still stuck on a Dine-A-Chook drinker? Contact us.

Q. What do these O-rings do?
A. Each one seals the joint where a Lubing cup screws into the drinker or outlet, and stops the cup being over-tightened.
Q. Which cups do they fit?
A. The genuine Lubing drinker cups used on every Dine-A-Chook cup drinker, drum drinker outlet and automatic drinker frame.
Q. When should I replace an O-ring?
A. When it is flattened, cracked or nicked, or when you change the cup. A slow weep where the cup screws in is the usual sign.
Q. The cup still drips with a new O-ring. Why?
A. Then the leak is not at the thread. Check head pressure (the water surface no more than 35 cm above the cup), an airlock in the reservoir, and grit on the valve seat. Contact us if you are still stuck on a Dine-A-Chook drinker.
Q. How many are in the pack?
A. Ten.
