Two clean cups, in pink
Screw this twin outlet into a drum, fill the drum, and your chickens drink from two clean Lubing cups instead of a bucket. The floats are pink, the water is clean. No tap near the coop? A drum and an outlet is the simplest way to put clean water where the birds are.
How does it work?
The Dine-A-Chook fitting screws into the drum's outlet. Water runs through it to two genuine Lubing cups. In each cup the Dine-A-Chook upgraded pink float lets water in as the birds drink and stops it when the cup is full, so there is always clean water sitting in the cup and nothing for the birds to press.
Will it fit my drum?
The fitting has a 3/4 inch male BSP thread, which suits most plastic drums. It is ready to go into a 10, 15 or 20 litre drum, or another suitable water container. On some drums you may need to drill out the bung hole first. Use an opaque, food-grade drum: clear plastic lets sunlight in, and sunlight is what grows algae in the water. Need the drum as well? The 20L black drum is made to fit.
How many chickens does it suit?
12 to 16 hens, at 6 to 8 hens per cup. Two cups means two birds drink at the same moment. A hen drinks about 500ml a day, more in real heat, so the drum you pair it with decides how often you refill, not how many birds it suits. For a bigger flock, add a second drum in another spot, or look at the triple, four or five cup outlets.
How do I set it up?
Screw the fitting into the drum outlet and tighten by hand. Set the drum on the drum drinker stand (sold separately), a shelf or a couple of pavers so the cups sit about level with the eyes of your smallest bird, then fill it. Shade keeps the water cool and slows algae.
Float colours
The same twin outlet and Lubing cups also come with yellow, pink or blue floats. Pick the colour you like.
Keeping it clean
Hose the cups out whenever you refill the drum, wash them in warm water every few weeks (not in the dishwasher, and not in very hot water), and take them apart for a thorough clean every 3 to 6 months.
How is it backed?
3-year warranty on the outlet fitting, which Dine-A-Chook manufactures, and 12 months on the Lubing cups. Colour loss and fading, and rodent damage, are not covered, and the warranty does not apply where parts are not installed correctly or used as directed. Full terms on our warranty page.
