A week away, and the flock does not notice
Three 4.7L Large Feeders hold about 11kg of feed between them, enough for up to 12 chooks for a week, and the automatic drinker takes its water from your hose or mains supply so it never runs dry. Three feeding stations also end the queue at the feeder: spread them around the coop and run and every hen eats without being pushed off. What is in the kit?
Three 4.7L Large Chicken Feeders, one Automatic Mains Pressure Chicken Drinker with two Lubing cups, a mains pressure installation kit with a nylon inlet adaptor and a stainless steel hose clamp, and four mounting kits for timber or metal, each with two steel brackets and four screws.

What size flock is this kit for?
Each 4.7L feeder suits up to 8 hens on its own and holds roughly 3.7kg of feed; together the three feed up to 12 chooks for a week on quality complete pellets. The automatic drinker suits up to about 12 chickens and needs a pressurised supply: a garden hose or a mains line. These are figures from our own coops. Breed, weather and free-ranging all move them.

How does the feeder keep feed off the ground?
Feed gravity-feeds into a hooded base. The hood gives your hens room to eat comfortably, but the shape stops the flicking and raking that scatters feed across the floor, and a built-in rain hood channels water away from the opening so the feed stays dry outdoors. No moving parts, no treadle, no training. Your chickens work it out in minutes. Less feed on the ground also means less on offer for sparrows and rodents.
How does the automatic drinker work?
It connects to a hose or mains line and feeds two Lubing cups, which refill themselves as the birds drink. There is no reservoir to fill, nothing open to collect shavings or droppings, and nothing standing on the ground to be tipped over. Full details are on the automatic mains pressure drinker page.
What feed should I use with this kit?
Works well with quality complete feed — crumble or pellets. These give your hens balanced nutrition in every bite and reduce selective eating. Grain mixes let hens pick their favourites and miss essential nutrients.
If the feed level looks low in the tray, that’s by design — it keeps feed away from edges so your hens can’t flick it out. Try the finger test: push your finger into the opening. If you can move the feed, your chickens can reach it.
How is it built, and how is it backed?
Every component is injection moulded in Brisbane and assembled by hand in Townsville, a genuine Australian made product. UV-treated ASA plastic handles sun and rain year after year, and with no moving parts in the feeders there is nothing to jam or seize. Dine-A-Chook started in 2009 as a weekend project in the garage, and we are still a family business that answers its own emails, New Zealand included. Backed by a 3-year warranty on the feeder and the drinker components we manufacture, and 12 months on the Lubing cups. Colour loss and fading, and rodent damage, are not covered.
