Where to locate the Chicken Drinker
Just like you, poultry love cool water. That's why we recommend locating your Poultry Drinker in the shade.
Chickens and poultry should always have access to water. You may like to place a Drinker inside the coop and another one outside. In hot weather, placing a Drinker where your birds spend the hottest part of the day can help to prevent heat stress, which decreases egg production.
Chicken Drinker Installation
There is nothing simpler than using a Dine a Chook Drinker:
- Position the Drinker at eye level for the smallest bird in the flock
- Holding the Drinker in place, slip a bracket over the top mounting hook and hold in place
- Remove the Drinker and fix the mounting bracket in place using the supplied screws
- Place the empty Drinker on the bracket and repeat to position and fix the second bracket on the bottom mounting hook
That's it! Once your mounting brackets are in place, your Drinker is ready to go. Simply fill the unit with water and press down on the float to release water into the Lubing Drinker Cups.
*Critically Important - Always monitor for the first few hours to ensure your smallest bird can access the Lubing Cup. If the bird can not access the water, slightly lower the Drinker or provide a step such as a brick.
We recommend rinsing the Lubing Cups out with water whenever you refill the Drinker reservoir and cleaning them every few months. This way, your Lubing Drinker Cups will last for years!
How long will 4 Litres Last?
Allow 500ml of water per bird per day.
Example 1: 2 Chickens – One 4 Litre Drinker should last approximately 4 Days. Check-in 3 Days.
Example 2: 6 - 8 Chickens – One 4 Litre Drinker will need checking daily.
For flocks larger than 8 chickens you should purchase two to three drinkers. Ideally these should be placed around the coop or run in shady locations so chickens do not have to travel large distances to be able to access water.
Although chickens usually consume 500 ml of water per day or less, the breed, age and diet of your birds will influence how much water they need. So will the weather! So you should always monitor your Drinkers closely, particularly when you first get them and during hot water, to ensure your birds have plenty of water!

How is your order shipped?
We use Australia Post for all international orders. You may choose either regular or express post. All Dine A Chook orders are sent using Australia Post unless otherwise stated. All orders require a signature at the time of delivery unless you provide an authority to leave. We deliver to Residential and Business addresses, PO Boxes and Parcel Lockers.
Insurance
Every Dine a Chook delivery is completely insured for the total value of the items despatched and insurance coverage includes loss and damage during transit. In the unlikely event, you receive a broken item contact our office via the contact us page within 3 working days of signing for the goods so we can arrange for a replacement.
